- In 1996 the City of Tombstone imposed an additional 3% bed tax.
- In 8/01/2001 an additional 6% was added to bring the total bed tax to 9%. After a year the bed tax as decreased the tax rate back down to 4%, where it stands now.

Did you know that the Tombstone Chamber of Commerce has been recognized within the State of Arizona as the marketing arm of Tombstone.
Since 2011 half of the total monthly bed tax revenue was designed/given to the Tombstone Chamber of Commerce by the City of Tombstone for advertising Tombstone AZ. The monthly amount of Bed Tax received from the City of Tombstone on average was $4500.00/month.
Annually the Tombstone Chamber of Commerce has provided its Members and the City of Tombstone a detailed advertising and media report (available for download on the Chamber’s website).
Did you know that the Tombstone Chamber of Commerce had developed over time an extensive marketing plan that adjusted for the economy, generational marketing, and technology.

Since October 2019, the Tombstone Chamber of Commerce has not received any Bed Tax monies from The City of Tombstone. Essentially, there has been no strategic marketing effort since that time.
