Whether you like Facebook or not here is a fact: Facebook in the second quarter of 2019 had 2.41 billion monthly active users. Facebook is the biggest social network worldwide.
Need I say more? Our Visitors/Guests - In state, out of state, out of the United States or right down the street are using Facebook.
The Tombstone Chamber of Commerce manages five Facebook Business Pages.
Why do we have five pages? Glad you asked!
Easy answer: Wider Audience and Greater Impact! The audiences are somewhat different on each of the pages. This allows essential continual venues (pages) to post about the History of Tombstone AZ, and the generic “This is Tombstone AZ” posts – along with the 30+ community and area events that are promoted on these pages.
Between all five pages there is approximately 15,000 page likes. We love Page Likes! What we like even more is POST ENGAGEMENTS!
The Unique Facebook Page URL and The Importance to YOUR BUSINESS!
Take note that all of the Chamber's Business Facebook pages have what is called a Unique URL. These are purposefully set. A unique Facebook Unique URL is HUGELY important for a couple of reasons. 1) It is an easy URL to pass out to Guests/Visitors when you want them to follow your Business Page, and 2) This is probably the MOST important - other pages and individuals (your guests/visitors) can TAG your page. This expands the REACH of your page and your page's content.
So if you don't have a FACEBOOK UNIQUE URL SET - here is how you do it.
Go to your Facebook Business Page.
The left column on that page has several choices - click on ABOUT
Under the General area you should see something like this:
Take Note: On the Allen Street Page we added the City and State. This helps when a Facebook User searches using the Facebook Search Bar for Tombstone AZ. You want your page to roll in that search.
LIKES versus ENGAGEMENTS – and what is more important.
Hands Down – Post Engagements are far more important than Page Likes – and here is why. The engagement rate shows you how many people are connecting with your business/post/content and how often and a high engagement rate means that more people are commenting, liking, sharing and mentioning your business and its content.
Here are four examples of GREAT engagement – just from The Tombstone Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page that today has 3916 page likes.
Tombstone Chamber Facebook Interactions Wrap Up
ANNUAL POST ENGAGEMENT: The Engagement Rate is the number of comments, shares, clicks, likes expressed as a percentage of the total people a post reached. Less than 1% = low engagement rate. Between 1% and 3.5% = average/good engagement rate. Anything above 3.5% = high engagement rate.
TOTAL ANNUAL POST REACH: The number of people who had any posts from your Page enter their screen, we have not broken it down by total, organic and promotions.

I know this is a lot of information to absorb. Facebook/social media is a powerful tool to use to support YOUR business and to market Tombstone Arizona. There are many Tombstone businesses and groups that have started pages - and never updated them in months or years. Also, there are groups that have lost administrative control of a Facebook Business Page or something happened and the group then just created another Facebook Business Page - what that does is essentially creates confusion on which page, what information - is accurate.
So if you if have a page - try to make at least a post a week. Keep your business page current. Let the world know that your business is alive and well.
If your group has created for reason or another - multiple Business Facebook Pages - all for the same purpose - well . . . either use them with a solid unified message about Tombstone AZ and whatever your promoting - or unpublish the pages that you don't need.
Thank you - and if you have questions about social media - contact Valerie at socialmedia@TombstoneChamber.com
Thank you for all that you do to promote Tombstone AZ.
